Exploring Film Technique - Tyler Baldwin
Tyler Baldwin - 3/5/21 - Film Techniques
Bunny
The first and most calling piece of the Bunny film I found was the contrast. This was done by the fact the highlighting main feature of the film, light, was so juxtaposed by the grim and dark room the film existed in. I think this contrast is finally realized as the old bunny goes into the light in a spectacular contrast to the dark and dingy depressing room that she existed in before, back with her lover.
Harold and Maude
I particularly did not enjoy Harold and Maude as I think in today's world where Suicide is taken more seriously, in this movie it is seen as a lighthearted joke by both main characters, and only the side characters can see the horror of the play. I think the point of view was especially important in this clip due to the fact we could see the gasoline pouring and the Mother could not.
Paris, Texas
At first I didn't know what to think of this movie. I think that the perspective of the characters, or framing, was important for both Travis and the wife. Travis can see the journey that he's on and the healing he has to do and the wife is oblivious to his pain until her fake world crumbles as she realizes who she's talking to.
Pink Floyd
I actually particularly like the animation and dark themes that propagated this film, along with the dramatic music that evoked strong emotion from the viewer. I think this was done with the colors of the film, red and black filling the viewer's vision, along with the contrast of the animation's imagery with the everyday life that the movie would cut back to.
